John Francis Campbell was a Scottish author, mostly known as a collector of folklore. 
“Osgar, the son of Oisein” a Scottish fairy tale, entered in the “Popular Tales of the West Highlands” collection. Osgar is a sixteen years old boy, who attends school. He likes to play shinny on the school-yard with other boys, but Osgar is not an ordinary boy: he is exceedingly big, so in school is no one of his contemporaries that he is not twice as much as he. One day, playing shinny, children see a boat coming in, and one man in her, and they never saw a man equal to him: he has the eyes with blue-green scales of hardening upon him. This strange meeting will have unexpected consequences for Osgar.
