I think it is significant that several of [Dogside Story's] characters are unwell and disabled because statistics show Maori health to be very poor. I live and write from within my own community, and have contact with many other communities. The physically and mentally disabled are equally part of these communities, cared for by everybody, and given special love. They are special people. Patricia Grace (1)
