Andy DiGiovanni is serving doing time for a murder he didn’t commit. When he pled guilty to the charges he was looking to outrun his demons and protect the only remaining family he had left. What he never considered was how quickly demons can catch up with a caged animal. Demons invade his head during the day and his thoughts at night. After a failed escape attempt and a transfer to a prison run by the Saldanos Cartel, the same cartel he recently ordered a hit on their leader, he has more demons chasing him than he can handle.
Everything Rae has and is she owes to Andy, that now includes her freedom. One phone call stops her in her tracks, throwing her back in time where all she wanted a was meal. It didn’t even have to be hot. Alone on the streets, hiding from the cops, and just trying to survive. Until the day she impulsively returned an act of kindness with another, not knowing that in doing so she would end up with more family, or famiglia, that she ever expected. The most important part of that new family being Andy DiGiovanni, heir to the largest mob thrown in the country. He pulls her into his family under the pretense of gratitude, but discovers a partner and best friend in this frail little homeless girl with an attitude to rival his own. Convincing her to stay was no easy feat, but it didn’t take her long to find her place in the family, by his side.
Now Andy’s in a coma fighting for his life and Rae’s stuck on the outside looking in. Time spent at his bedside is forcing her to relive every event that led to this point in order to maintain her sanity, all the while praying that he will pull through.
