A young woman is forced to leave her expansive life as a shepherdess when King David's men come in search of a beautiful woman to attend the king. She is certain she can never be happy enclosed by palace walls. And with David aging and his sons jockeying for position to ascend the throne, her status in the king's house is tenuous indeed.
