Written by one of the earliest historians and novelists from Charleston, S.C., William Gilmore Simms wrote The Partisan in 1835. This book, one of the earliest editions, is one of eight novels Simms set in South Carolina during the American Revolutionary War. The Partisan is thought to be Simms' most-read work.
