Dental Materials

This course deals with the composition, property, use, and manipulation of materials used in the dental profession.

Dental Radiography

This course is designed to acquaint you with fundamental concepts of dental radiography. It seeks to familiarize you with the techniques of positioning the patient, the tubehead, and film as well as exposing and processing dental radiographs. A knowledge of radiography is essential to understanding the dangers inherent in the use of X-rays. Radiographs are used to help make diagnoses. There are examples in this course of commonly produced radiographs.

Dental X-Ray Units

The material in this course provides the preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS), verification/calibration, malfunction isolation, and removal and replacement procedures for a seven milliampere (ma) Portaray Heliodent.

Dental Chair and Operating Unit

The dental chair, model JSR, is designed and constructed for dependability. The chair features an automatic return to exit capability. It is covered with durable upholstery and has a protective plastic foot cover. The accompanying stool provides seating for the doctor during operating procedures. The A-DEC Dental System, Model 4200, provides dentists and their assistants with the state of the art dental technology. Ease of operation and convenient instrument location are features that dental teams desire. The material in this course covers these procedures for the JSR dental chair, stool, and A-DEC dental operating unit.

Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology

This course is designed to acquaint you with the fundamental concepts of
oral and maxillofacial pathology. It also seeks to familiarize you with the technical
nomenclature used in pathology, which is essential to properly understanding dental
