Ecstasy, revenge and a murderer on the loose in a small town.
As a young boy, Stuart watched a dark love affair between his uncle and Shirley, his mother’s best friend. The scandalous affair somehow becomes the trigger for two apparently unconnected incidents. First a mechanic is killed in what the coroner described as a ‘dreadful accident.’ Within a couple of weeks, Stuart’s best friend disappeared. From that moment on, he always believed that there was a connection between the his friend disappearing and the mechanic’s death.
Twelve years later Stuart’s feckless life suddenly comes into sharp focus as he begins an illicit love affair with Kathy. The lovers are indiscreet and hopelessly in love. Just to complicate things, Kathy is not only the sister of his missing friend, but the wife of a man he’s hated for most of his life. A chance encounter with the dead mechanic’s wife confirms Stuart’s long held suspicions that Kathy’s husband knows a lot about earlier events. Stuart suddenly realises that their affair is about to end just as his uncle’s did. A bloodbath worthy of any Greek tragedy.
