Description

Byline: Nancy Sheehan Presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, who lives in Concord, has just returned from Europe and, only a couple of days later, is breezing through a tunnel under Boston Harbor on her way to Logan International Airport. Final destination: Washington, D.C. She wouldn't reveal whether she was headed to the White House, even though, she says, President Barack Obama does ring her up occasionally to pick her brain. It's not so much that he is a Goodwin fan, although he obviously is. It's more that he is a huge fan of Abraham Lincoln, and Goodwin, in 2005's "Team of Rivals," wrote a highly respected book on the Lincoln presidency and certainly one of the most readable ones.
