Those of us of a certain age grew up with the Sky King Television series. I had the personal experience of getting to know Kirby Grant after the star retired to Florida in the early 1970's. In an interview on Good Morning America and in a personal conversation with me when I visited him after heart surgery, Kirby said he was writing a book about his experiences. Unfortunately, he never really started the book, so after his death, his wife, Carolyn shared her memories, recorded on cassette tapes, which were the beginnings for this book.
As it often is with "legends", some of the stories and information did not survive scrutiny, and many misconceptions persist. This book explores the reality of the man in the white cowboy hat who came "out of the blue of the western skies" as Sky King.
