Description

I’m a tomboy through and through. But when the man of my dreams walks through my door, I want to be all woman. Too bad I have no idea how….

Skirts and dresses, makeup and perfume. Things that never entered my life. With my red hair and lanky body that I hid in shapeless clothes, I was just one of the guys. The ‘cool’ girl they hung out with but never dated. Not that I had time for relationships. Ever since my grandad passed, I’d been working day and night to try and salvage his failing business. I had no idea how he’d kept it afloat for so many years. His books said he had an abundance of clients, but my phone was barely ringing. I was in danger of losing the locksmith business he’d spent his lifetime building.
The he walked in.
I noticed his height first. Then his smile, his eyes, his body… Wow. I could barely think just looking at him and slipped on the grinder, sending a flash of sparks in the air.
I guess you could say sparks literally flew when we locked eyes.
Except they didn’t, well, not for him. He got right down to business. He wanted my grandfather for a job. When I said he wasn’t available, he turned to leave.
Wait!
I couldn’t let him leave. I needed the work, bonus points if it meant I got to spend more time around the Adonis in front of me.
To get the job, I may have oversold my qualifications. I also may have oversold my knowledge of my grandad’s past.
You see, I only knew him as a locksmith. But it turned out, he used to be cat burglar—the fastest safe cracker in the business. I guess that explained where the money came from. I was running a front without any cash to launder.
Now, I was following his footsteps, all while pretending I knew what I was doing. I really didn’t. Thankfully Google did, and bonus, my dream guy, Abbot Cartwright was supervising my work. Downside to all this? I was pretty sure Abbot had figured out I lied my way into this job. If I didn’t get this safe open soon, I stood to lose a lot more than my business, I stood to lose my life.
Suddenly, I was wishing I knew how to bat my eyes and play the damsel in distress to get him to take pity on me and maybe let me go. But that wasn’t how the Cartwright family worked, and I already knew too much…
