I was so sad to have these books end. I wanted more but felt satisfied at the same time. Highly recommended!
  • The second book is garbage

I have to listen to the main character harp on and on about the joys of pregnancy but when the real action is happening it’s offscreen. What a bunch of baloney

Good world-building; awful treacle of a relationship.

I read A Discovery of Witches and about half of Shadow of Night. The storyline was similar to Twilight. Unfortunately it did not capture my interest so I stopped reading it.
  • Started Strong

This series started off strong with the first book, but I think in an effort to make a 3 books series it was dragged out a bit too much. Therefore. The book lost so much potential.

I put down A Discovery of Witches twice due to the slow-moving plot but I’m glad I didn’t give up on it… by the middle to Shadow, I was running to the store to purchase Book of Life! Now.. would Ms. Harkness please give Gallowglass a happy ending?
  • Not for people with OCD... lol

I have a problem. When I pick up a good book, a great story, an interesting topic I can’t put it down until I finish it from cover to cover. I made the mistake of first watching the series on Sundance Now. I watched each episode avidly. When I found out it was based on a book I instantly searched for it and bought it along with the rest of the trilogy. In one week I’ve spent over 70 hours reading these books. Dinners were late. Deadlines for work missed. Children semi-ignored. It’s that good. And now that I’ve seen what happens with my beloved Diana and Matthew I can rest my eyes and get back to my life. I don’t regret these days spent immersed in their world. You won’t either if you’re into history, witches, and vamps. It begins with absence and desire... fascinating!
