Enter The Amazon - Book Two: Fitness and Figure is the second in a series of illustrated histories of the modern phenomenon of aesthetic female muscle. First came bodybuilding for women, which was followed by competitive categories of fitness and figure. Fitness was designed to feature athletic bodies created by bodybuilding-type training which were also judged on the basis of some kind of dance, gymnastics or other physical performance. Figure started out to be fitness without the performance, but the winner who emerged tended to be taller, with longer "supermodel" type lines. Bill Dobbins began photographing these women in the 1970s, when the whole phenomenon first emerged. He has also done the best and the most photos of women in all these categories. He got this opportunity by being the Founding Editor of Flex Magazine, and being on hand for the whole evolution of these fantastic new kinds of female bodies. In this book he describes the history of fitness and describes many of the major stars.
