Salvatore Montella was a Colombo family associate who was the right-hand man of underboss John "Sonny" Franzese. Montella's name surfaces in June 1962 when he was arraigned for burglary in Kew Gardens felony court. His accomplice was Brooklyn resident Fred DeLucia. DeLucia was later killed by mobsters in a Mafia purge in 1970. DeLucia and safecracker Dominic F. Cataldo were arrested in the theft of $122,000 in stocks from the Wall Street firm Loeb, Rhoades & Company. In 1969 Montella lived in Bay Shore. He was indicted for masterminding a $126,000 burglary of E.J. Korvette department store.
