The bombs drop on San Diego. Jack tries to get all of his friends to leave the surf, to leave the beach, and escape to somewhere. Anywhere. They pay no attention to him.
He leaves his surfboard and runs toward a water drain pipe dug into the side of the hill adjacent to Windansea Beach. At the entrance, he collides with Stasia, a beautiful girl he has worshiped from afar.
