The #1 New York Times bestseller—a thrilling new romance from E L James, author of the phenomenal bestselling Fifty Shades Trilogy.

London, 2019. Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.
But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past.  Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? Can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?
From the heart of London through wild, rural Cornwall to the bleak, forbidding beauty of the Balkans, The Mister is a roller-coaster ride of danger and desire that leaves the reader breathless to the very last page.

  • It was good until…

    By SusannaMoss
Honestly, I could’ve done without 100 pages of Alessia’s kidnap story. All of that as well as the demands placed by Alessia’s father, I could’ve done without. The book would’ve gotten a full 5 stars from me had all of that been left out. I would’ve preferred a wedding in England. Not that back water country. Not to mention, it ended rather suddenly. Unfinished. I truly hope there is a part two to the story because there’s so much left unresolved like the fate of the two men who were after Alessia, Caroline, Maxim’s mother’s reaction, etc.

  • Great Book

I’ve always been a E.L.James and I had been looking for a good read so I decided to give this a go. I am so glad I did! I did not put this book dook down until it was finished. The Mister definitely isn’t Fifty Shade, but its still just as good. It was refreshing to see something different from E.L.James and I’m defiantly looking forward/hoping for a sequel!
  • Bland and long winded at best...

    By AprilsOwn
As usual E.L. James disappoints. For all the fuss surrounding her releases, her stories lack substance. There isn’t be 30 pages describing a boring sex scene that reads like a conversation with a prude friend who can’t seem to find the courage use her big girl words and tell you like an adult about a sexual encounter. I found myself skipping pages looking to get back to the story. The character are presented as glamorous, and you expect a story about high society and the complexity of the relationships, but you just get a lot of fluff and blah, blah, blah. Pointless, and that’s being kind. This story makes no impression.
  • Amazing as always

I loved it! I will recommend it to all my family and friends and I hope there is a sequel!!!
  • Where’s the ending????

    By Dis4me
This was good read, the characters were easy to understand and the story continued to build. Just when you think there’s going to be this beautiful ending of how the characters will spend the rest of their lives the book just ends abruptly. It’s really weird, I feel like there was so much more to this story. It feels incomplete. Maybe there’s a second book, one can only guess. 🤷🏽‍♀️
