Description

For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare - poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a U.S. Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events, inspiring Outside magazine to name him The Fittest (Real) Man in America.

In Can't Hurt Me, he shares his astonishing life story and reveals that most of us tap into only 40% of our capabilities. Goggins calls this The 40% Rule, and his story illuminates a path that anyone can follow to push past pain, demolish fear, and reach their full potential.

Caught Mr. Goggins on an episode of the “Joe Rogan Experience”. The man was very interesting. The book was referenced and I bought it. I was trying to find something interesting for entertainment. The book was intense! It was one of those books that was so visceral and well written that it allowed me to imagine myself 5 feet from the person, even finding myself becoming tense at times. I cannot imagine a single second in Mr. Goggins shoes, but I really appreciate this book. As dumb as it might sound, if you want a crazy ride, this book is a true look into the abyss.

I’ll be honest— I wasn’t sure if I’d like this book but I was so wrong! I finished it in under 5 days because it was so good! It truly dives deep into mindset and how to overcome your own self doubts and fears! Highly recommend this book to anybody— but be fair warned, it does have some profanity in it, which I didn’t mind, but overall it’s a fantastic read!

If anything this book will teach you that you can will yourself to do a lot more than you think you are capable of. This man was constantly pushed to his limits, limits most would crumble under. Yet he made it through. And not because he’s this super athlete. It’s because he willed himself to do these things. The best part is he shows you how to apply the things he’s learned to everyday life.

I downloaded this by mistake, thinking it was the audiobook. I've struggled with crippling dyslexia for 3+ years since an adderall stint in high-school, and I was both terrified and disappointed when I found out my newly downloaded title was not an audio version. I started painstakingly reading and re-reading pages. After about 300 pages in, however, I started picking it up again. Pages were flying by and I was ACTUALLY retaining it. Due to Goggins' storytelling, commitment, undertones of commitment and dedication, I FINISHED the book proudly and with an excitement to read again. I've recently run ultra marathons and other incredible feats but I whole-heartedly rank finishing this book among the greatest of many accomplishments to come. Thank you so much for this book. It will motivate thousands of others for generations to come. -Nohea
