The controversy surrounding these attacks begins as soon as news reports are known to the world. They are many questions that to this day which still haven’t been answered. Why were the pleas for more security not granted? Who is to blame for the lack of security at the Compound? Were these security issues to blame for the death of Chris Stevens and Sean Smith? During the attack, why was the team at the Annex held for so long? Would a quicker response save the lives of the fallen men? After the attacks, was there a cover-up by the State Department to hide who really was to blame for these attacks? Obama and Clinton claim that the movie Innocence of Muslims along with the already volatile situation in Benghazi triggered the attacks. They denied any reports that al-Qaeda played any major role in orchestrating what happened. The Senate Intelligence Committee that was part of the investigation noted in its report that the situation could have been prevented had the State Department granted the requests for more security.
