When dark desperation meets opportunity…

On a celebratory trip with his best friend, Ray “Razor” Chambers meets sultry Viktoriya Dubrovskaya and immediately recognizes the desperation in her eyes—a sight he remembers all too well. Permanently in survival mode, the destitute and broken Viktoriya makes him an offer—a proposition he immediately refuses. However, Razor’s counter-offer changes everything for her.

A ring.
A marriage.
A lifetime of opportunity.

But learning to live together as husband and wife is as foreign as interpreting Smoke Signals. And where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire.

  • Love this series!!!

I love all of Catherine Gayle's hockey romances but Razor's story is my new favorite!!! Definitely worth checking out!
  • Razor and Tori are amazing!

Amazing addition to this new series. The Tulsa Thunderbirds is a slightly edgier spinoff of Gayle's Portland Storm series, and Smoke Signals is definitely a not in Kansas anymore type of books. Both the lead characters struggle with dark pasts but both know that deep down they are good people but need to prove it to themselves as much as to the world. Razor has been stealing scenes since the early days of the Storm books but now his true colors are on full display as he works to protect and love Tori. Ps Babs and Katie show up a few times :)
  • If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!

5 of 5 stars Read in October, 2015 I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest review of this book. I have to start off by saying if you have not read a book by Catherine Gayle you are missing out! Catherine has a way of drawing in a reader in and hooking them! This book/ series is a must read! Where to start with Razor, Ray Razor Chambers was a guy who I thought in previous books to be a complicated man. Just never would imagine his back story and what made him the man who he is today. This story has such a powerful message and I have so much more respect for Ray! Vegas.... Bachelor party... A girl... A proposition... A love story that is so special it could have only been told in the way that Catherine did. Tori, ballerina, Russian, porn star say what? Oh yes former ballerina/ porn star gives it all up to find someone in Vegas to make enough to get back to Russia only to eye Razor in a casino proposition him and by the next morning is married to an NHL player for the Tulsa Thunderbirds. She struggles to find herself in her new life as a wife, to make friends and adapt but that is what makes this story so special. I wish this book would have been longer but then again I feel that way with all of the Portland Storm and Tulsa Thunderbird books because they are just that darn good!
  • Another great hockey romance by Catherine Gayle

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from the author, for an honest review. Nothing is better than catching up with the Tulsa Thunderbirds and a few cameo appearances from the Portland Storm. I would have been happy with just the parts about the Babs and Katie wedding, but the author gave us so much more. If you enjoy an unconventional love story then this book is for you. In previous books from the two series Razor is a bit of a self described jerk. He wins the reader over with his heart and patience in his own book. It was great to learn what makes Razor tick.. The heroine, Tori, has had a very hard life and the reader really roots for her to get on her two feet and find peace and happiness. It was also wonderful to get to see more of Tallie and Hunter from the first Tulsa Thunderbirds book. Tallie is just a breath of fresh air and makes a great confidant for Tori. Like all books from Catherine Gayle's two hockey series there is a lovely HEA and an epilogue that leaves the reader feeling fulfilled but hungry for more glances of Tori and Razor's future in other Thunderbird books.

**I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review I am a HUGE fan of Catherine Gayle and her Portland Storm and Tulsa Thunderbird series and I can say this installment in the Tulsa Thunderbird series did not disappoint. When I read the initial teaser I wasn’t really sure what to expect. Razor was never written to be the most sensitive and giving guy. And a Porn star turning hooker becoming a wife??? I was intrigued into how she was going to spin this story. Well, it was amazing. I LOVED this book. Getting to know the real Razor showed us a sensitive, caring man with a huge heart. (Sigh) His childhood has given him insight into a world few of us would ever know. I started off thinking I wasn’t going to like Tori and ended up loving her. Her struggles and pain were so raw. The patience, love and understanding that Razor showed in his relationship with her was beautiful. And Razor’s mom…..She was awesome! I hope she comes down to visit Tulsa as this series continues. Was great to see more of Tallie and Hunter as well as some characters from the Storm series. I Can’t wait to read Dimas story.
  • Sexy, Seductive, Steamy story

Smoke Signals, the second book in the Tulsa Thunderbirds series, is the story of Razor and Tori. Razor is in Las Vegas to participate in Babs and Katie's wedding. Razor and Tori's story is dark and deep and emotional, and I couldn't stop reading it. For readers sensitive to emotional issues surrounding sexual abuse, this book may not be for you. But, Catherine Gayle does a masterful job of weaving a dark and complicated childhood for Razor, making him singularly qualified to identify the root of Tori's issues. He sees in her a depth of pain and suffering that he recognizes for what it is, and feels drawn to help her. The depth of the characters in this book is astounding. Each time you think you've seen everything influencing Tori's life, Razor peels back the onion and discovers more. And behind Razor's gruff exterior is a heart of gold and a sensitive side. His relationship with Tori starts as a solution to a problem and results in love. I think both Tori and Razor were shocked with the direction their relationship turned, but with the depth of emotion each has to pour into the relationship, its no wonder. By each of them exposing the rawest parts of themselves, they also opened themselves up to love. I love Razor's mother - it's not often you see a grown man so comfortable discussing sex with his mother, but the author crafted these conversations so they were as natural as discussing what they wanted for dinner. The entire supporting cast of characters completes this book, and we catch up with Hunter and Tallie, and get to know other members of the Tulsa Thunderbirds a bit better. Dima played a critical role in Smoke Signals, as he is Tori's connection back to her Russian roots. I look forward to his happily ever after. I had almost written off the Tulsa Thunderbirds after the first book, deciding that maybe this series wasn't for me. But Smoke Signals has redeemed my hope in this series, and the emotional depth of the stories in this group, and I look forward to the next installment.
  • Another 5 star!

She's nailed it again! I've never hidden my love of Catherine Gayle's books but this one has officially moved to the top of the list for me. Razor was in the Portland Storm series, known as Babs obnoxious friend, in my mind. I never really thought to much about his character so I went into this book without really knowing much about him. I really disliked Viktoriya in the beginning of this book. Then you learn about her past, begin to understand her reasons, her feelings and your heart literally breaks for her. The subject matter in this book is tough, but again Catherine Gayle writes it magnificently. We can do wrong, make bad choice, overcome awful things and still find our happy. That's what I've taken from this book and I think its a five star, must read! Loved that Hunter and Tallie we also big characters in this book. Strong, funny characters! HEA / no cliff
  • This series just keeps getting better!

Have you ever heard the saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover"? The same goes for people too. Take everything you thought you knew about Razor and throw it away. Catherine will blow you away with a story of love, redemption, and acceptance. Razor has always been the easy going guy. He never took things too seriously. When he gets propositioned by Tori though, he takes it upon himself to save her. No two ways about it, Tori has had a hard life. Forced to leave Russia and run to the US, she has done everything she could to try and survive. Not having another option, she sets off to Vegas to try her hand at selling herself. Smoke Signals is a book that deals with a lot of emotional issues. I love how Catherine dug in and got her hands dirty. Razor surprises us all with his softer side, and in the end, I couldn't help but fall for them both.

When Razor met Viktoriya he had no idea what he was getting into. He just knew he had to get to know her and figure out why she was trying to sell herself. Viktoriya has suffered so many losses and does not trust anyone. Being from Russia and being forced to come to the United States she trusted the wrong people. My heart went out to her as the scared woman met and made friends with Razor's friends. We see a different side of Razor in this story. Viktoriya finally gets to knows Razor is a good man even though he does not think he is. Catherine Gayle has yet again created a wonderful story to get lost in. I love her style of writing she kept me on the edge of my seat with this one. I received this copy to give a honest review.
