"A surprisingly funny, witty, and good read."

"The mix of the African Savannah and the paranormal in the 1890s, not to mention the British twist... I found this book truly entertaining. It kept my interest from cover to cover. I even caught myself laughing out loud at certain points."

"I was very surprised when at 4 AM I couldn't stop reading! I really enjoyed Mrs. Knight and the way she reacts in the situations she faces."

"Bee, the main character is hilarious. Her wit, her dry humor, her observations are not only refreshing but addictive. Vered Ehsani's writing is just excellent."

A great story and first book in the series. It really moved along well and I enjoyed the Victorian vernacular. It was entertaining and humorous. Sometimes novels written in Victorian prose can be over-wordy... this was just perfect. I also enjoyed the paranormal twist on the Ghost and the Darkness and can't wait to dive in to the rest of the series.

The first book of the series that is holding me captive! Love the factual thread running through Mrs. Knight's narrative. Her sharp wit and a cast of imaginative characters brings this tale to life. Going onto book 5....with anticipation! 😁

This book was about 100x better than I thought it would be. It had me grinning through most of it. Well written, easy read and not at all cheesy. Very surprised. The characters were unique and the story line was surprising. Paranormal Victorian adventure. Very good.

If you like ghosts, possessions, paranormal activities, humor and Austen-style writing (around 1899), you will love this story. It's set in England and Kenya. It's has a proper heroine as as paranormal investigator. That all I will say, other than please give it a read.
  • Victorian slapstick

Victorian colonial tongue-in-cheek. Think 'Crocodile Dundee' with a little paranormal included.

Absolutely delightful book! A Victorian lady with a quirky sense of humor, a tale (tail?) of two real man-eating lions, and lots of paranormal activity--OK, so it's not Shakespeare, but definitely a fun read!
