In the world of adventure, the unexpected is always expected to happen by surprise or otherwise. If your name happens to be Mortimer Aglet and you're the grandson of two infamous adventurers, Blackbeard the Pirate and Great Wolf Shadow, a ninja of equal reputation, you’re under lot of pressure to follow in one famous footstep or the other. Don't worry, though, Mortimer has it all figured out. He is going to become the world's first Ninja-Pirate and follow in the footsteps or missteps, of both his grandparents. But before that, he has to get through his first day of school. So, when Mortimer actually leaves his house for his first day of pirate training at the Cutless Academy, adventure is right there with him every step of the way.
Luckily for you, but not so great for Mortimer, his life doesn't follow the simple routine of going to school, doing his homework, and going to bed to do it all again the next day. On his first pirate training voyage, the ship is attacked by a mysterious force know as the Sky Pirates. Tragedy strikes again when Mortimer finds that the pirate and ninja residents of his home, Skull Shuriken Island, have gone missing. When it becomes clear the Sky Pirates are responsible, it's up to Mortimer and his rag tag group of friends to put a stop to the Sky Pirate menace. Luckily for him, he will have the help of a Wizard, a Superhero, and some pretty awesome grandfathers.
