This was such a wonderful book about a woman who endured under the most trying circumstances. She was a true inspiration.
Riveting and heartrending
What a thoroughly deplorable institution slavery was and is. The very idea of one person owning another makes my stomach roil. God created all men in his image. Nowhere in the Bible does it say one color of skin is more worthy of freedom than another. Thank you for sharing your story, I imagine the telling came at great emotional cost.
I see the reason for fear of an level playing field.
Amazing! Had to read this book for college & I would definitely read it again in my free time. Best book I have read all semester.
INCIDENTS IN THE LIFE OF A SLAVE GIRL
This is a very good biography written by the author who was a slave girl in the 1800's. It gave me a good picture of what the slaves went through as "being owned" by white plantation owners. It is very sad in that the author had to become a fugitive and live in seclusion for 7 years of her life. It also gives a good picture of her raising her two children and how she got herself and her children free of slavery. A very good read and eye-opening.
Heart wrenching but beautiful story
By Miss paxli
I had this book among a few others to chose from for an assignment and expected to choose anything but this one assuming everyone would choose it but it was the most interesting. I am forever changed by this story! I have never sobbed so outwardly while reading a book before. Some happy tears as well' I highly recommend this book to anyone,
Incidents in a life of a slave girl
Pretty good. I enjoyed it!
It's a pretty good book, but I have read better. It is extremely interesting and I enjoy it. The only problem I have with this book is that the language is kind of confusing. But, it was written a long time ago, so I can't complain. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
Incidents in the life of a slave girl
A must read to fully understand the plight of the slaves...
Slavery has always been a subject I feel incredibly sensitive to, I remember first learning about it in elementary school and crying every night, that people would actually treat people that way. It was a rude awakening to my very young heart. This should be required reading for every high school student, they need to know what REALLY happened and our US history books don't even come close. I thought I knew about slavery, this book made me realize I only had brushed the surface of what it really meant to be a slave. I could not put this book down, I felt as though I was right beside her and needed to see what was going to happen next. Enlightening to say the least, WOW!
To know of the endurance of people of color in a time when man though he should treat others as property is truly inspiring. God bless Ms. Linda.
