Description

"Goldie Hawn embodies delight and joy, and 10 Mindful Minutes radiates these. Her book can help any adult-parent, grandparent, teacher-make double use of their moments with the children they love and have a terrific time while helping shape that child's brain for a lifetime of resilience and happiness."
-Daniel Goleman, author of Emotional Intelligence
Across the country, the revolutionary MindUP program, which was developed under the auspices of the Hawn Foundation, established by Goldie Hawn, is teaching children vital social and emotional skills. By understanding how their brains work, children discover where their emotions come from and become more self-aware. They learn to appreciate the sensory aspects of their lives and to value the positive effects of mindfulness, compassion, and kindness. This, in turn, empowers them to manage and reduce their own stress-and helps them be happy.

Those who have seen the remarkable effects of this program have been eager to learn how to implement it in their own homes and use its practices for themselves, too. Now, for the first time, its secrets are being shared with all parents and children in 10 Mindful Minutes.

I have found this book to be very interesting.I'm a grandfather with 5 great wonderful grand children and have three outstanding children of my own. I often laughed as certain subjects brought memories about my children growing up and the frustrations we had with certain problems along the way.I now try to use certain tips brought forth in the book and pass them along to my grown children to try and use as they bring there children up. Life is a wonderful journey and positives make it even better.I thank Goldie for her thoughts and her fresh approaches to life's challenges in the nurturing of children and how to prepare children for there adult lives and possible child up bringing and just how to get thru a difficult period in there everyday James Murphy Sr.
  • Very interesting and insightful!

I am not a parent or teacher, which is the intended audience of this book, I'm actually a college student, but I found this book very helpful. It teaches simple ways to deal with everyday stress. If you are a parent/teacher, this book offers many exercises that can be done with children to help them fully understand their emotions and how they work. I def recommend.

This book is wonderful I am a Nana to 3 young children making me a grandmother also.this book is a great read and very interesting and very factual (yes I said it even though it's not a word)it is quite the information wizard! Our lives are always so busy we barely have enough time to breathe, let alone worry about being resilient with our grandchildren, children or asking them what's on there minds..I admit I often do...today for example my grandchild asked me if she could listen to her I-pod I told her yes if that's what you really want to do...next thing you know we are talking about her father when he was a child...then we got to our destination, this book will help bring us closer to our children, grandchildren.Entering a new hope for wonder and fulfillment.I mean really isn't that what our lives should be made of....I think Goldie got it right in would love to learn more about the program Mind-up,maybe bring it to there schools.please email me with information for the Hawn Foundation.
