This is one of the best books out. READ THIS BOOK. THIS BOOK IS AMAZING. WONDERFUL. SENSATIONAL. THE BEST. No but seriously this book is filled with funny moments and sarcasm and sadness and everything you could ever need. This book is truly amazing. People tend not to give older books a chance but if you want to read something like you've never read before then read this. I fell in love with Mr Darcy before Lizzy did. I hated his arrogance but loved his secret affection for her. She was in fact, handsome enough to tempt him. It was beautiful. And Mr Bingleys character was just wonderful. Him and Jane were just beautiful together. The book overall is something you could never stop enjoying.
    • Brilliant

Wow... Sadly I have not read this book until now, in my late 20's... And I am infatuated with it, that given some time, I will revisit it. Such a beautiful, yet thought provoking, message about the pride of oneself in believing in what you first see and having prejudices against one without properly coming to know them for who they really are and believing so much that you can not be wrong until given the opportunity to come to understand someone's true self and how what is perceived is not always as it is... Such a great lesson even in today's world. I absolutely loved it!
    • Perhaps my prejudice against this book was unfounded.

I assumed it was "a girl's book," full of descriptions of hoop skirts, caviar, archaic dances and overblown mannerisms. Silly me! It's nothing of the sort. This rich comedy, laced with loss, disappointment and embarrassment but spurred on by accident, misunderstanding and remarkably believable, sympathetic and uncomfortably familiar characters, stands alongside the greatest works of satire and cultural indictments I've read. Sure, I watched the Keira Knightly filmβ€”the book is funnier, if you imagine (as I did) its narrator twisting her lip in sarcasm and understated horror at the bizarre, everyday behavior of Elizabeth's family and acquaintances. IT'S A ROMANTIC COMEDY, PEOPLE. If the grammar is too frustrating or the vocabulary too complex, stick to Twilight. But if you adore subtext and eyerolls, don't hesitate. Love this book.
