MORE THAN SEVEN YEARS ON THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER LIST
The perennially bestselling, extraordinary, one-of-a-kind, “nothing short of spectacular” (Entertainment Weekly) memoir from one of the world’s most gifted storytellers.

The Glass Castle is a remarkable memoir of resilience and redemption, and a revelatory look into a family at once deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant. When sober, Jeannette’s brilliant and charismatic father captured his children’s imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and how to embrace life fearlessly. But when he drank, he was dishonest and destructive. Her mother was a free spirit who abhorred the idea of domesticity and didn’t want the responsibility of raising a family.

The Walls children learned to take care of themselves. They fed, clothed, and protected one another, and eventually found their way to New York. Their parents followed them, choosing to be homeless even as their children prospered.

The Glass Castle is truly astonishing—a memoir permeated by the intense love of a peculiar but loyal family.

Loved it! This was a well written story of the life of Jeannette Walls and her adventurous upbringing. The Glass Castle carried me through this journey as I learned so much about this inspirational character! Jeannette is strong, determined, kind and genuine. She is courageous and level minded. These characteristics get her through the highs and lows! What an amazing ride! I would recommend this book to anyone!

Great story about the author’s life journey with an unconventional family. It is her journey and written in her style. I totally get the appeal of this book as at times it is heart warming and at others you feel infuriated. There was a lack of emotion connected with most of the book which I found difficult. As a side note I’m so devastated that Child Welfare had not followed up on this family. These poor kids needed beds and baths. These kids were neglected by all....a vast travesty.
