The day her mother passed away, Beulah was only given a name. That was it. No other explanation.

Portia Van Allan was not someone Beulah could believe her mother ever knew. Wealthy, self-absorbed and other than the fact Portia was supplying special care for Beulah’s sister, Portia was cruel.

The day Portia’s son returns home for the summer, Beulah discovers that Portia isn’t in charge. This isn’t her home at all. Her late husband left her with nothing. It all belongs to their son who doesn’t seem to like his mother at all.

Jasper Van Allan doesn’t know why his mother has hired a young gorgeous blonde to take care of the house and almost lets her go before he finds out the truth.

Realizing there’s more to Beulah than a stunning face, he keeps finding reasons to be near her all the time. It’s all falling into place, it all begins to make sense . . . until the real lies, the dark secrets, and the skeletons come tumbling out of the Van Allan closet. Twisted truths that will send Beulah running . . .
…

"Abbi Glines is the queen of steamy modern day fairytales with a twist. Sweet Little Thing will keep you guessing and needing more from the very first word all the way to the very last."
— Danielle Lagasse

I can't wait to see what happens... Literally my world began and was a magnificient place and with the last page everything I thought I knew was a lie and the world I saw in my head smashed like a broken mirror. No reason for such a downer ending. Could have come up with some other options.
  • AN INTERESTING TWIST ON THE ROMANCE NOVEL

**********SPOILER ALERT!******** I bought this novel because of the reviews it received. One reviewer said ending was sad; another said it was shocking. After I discovered there were 2 additional books in the series for pre-order, I rushed to buy them. I’ve never read this author before, and was pleasantly surprised at reading a romance that appeared to be so typical (poor girl meets and falls for rich boy) but ends on such a shocking twist. What I don’t understand is how Beulah and Heidi could be passed off as twins when they weren’t even sisters. I enjoyed Abbi Glines’ writing style. She writes in a simple, straightforward, yet polished manner. The plot of this novel was steady and developed through the life of the novel. The characters were human and sympathetic. There were just a few typos, and these were minor—- such as “now” instead of “know”. I greatly enjoyed this novel, and am greatly anticipating reading book 2!

This book is awful. Bad writing, cliched characters, predictable (and terrible) ending.
  • Gross

I love Abbi but ew. I really loved this book until literally the last page. So gross and such a book ruiner. I feel like that there were many ways to end this book but the path she chose just ruins the book and makes me not want to read the rest of the series. There is really no coming back from that ending.... just ew.
  • Great storyline!

The grammar mistakes were terrible and made it a distracting read. The ending was so obvious. Seemed a little too cheap, lazy, lifetime movie-ish to me.
