Description

FBI agent Cookie James is enjoying her extended leave from the agency on Secret Seal Isle, managing her quaint inn and flirting with the oh-so sexy-handyman, Dylan Creed…until her sixty-year-old mother goes skinny dipping and is almost drowned by a corpse.
A phone call to the sheriff should mean the end of Cookie’s involvement, but when it’s clear the sheriff has no interest in the investigation, Cookie calls in reinforcements…her ex-partner Hunter O’Neil. Suddenly it’s like old times while the pair questions the residents of Secret Seal Isle. Except it’s not. Now she has both Hunter and Dylan vying for her attention, a wayward hippy mother, and a potential killer on the loose.
With her love life heating up, her mother lighting up, and all signs pointing to the most unlikely suspect, Cookie does the only thing she knows to do—focus on solving the case.

This book travels 2 paths: one is a very good mystery the other is a serious philosophical question everyone faces: what/when do I make a decision re: what my actual life need I choose AND how/when do I finally choose? The Buddhist say your actions are the ground you Stand on. Patience is the difference between what do I want now AND what most? Aside from this philosophical question the book is a very good mystery too boot and holds a mirror up before the reader also.

Poorly written book. No research on legal procedures. 2 writers should have done a much better job

NEW CORPSE IN TOWN (Secret Seal Isle Mysteries Book 1) Cookie James left her FBI job due to circumstances beyond her control; escaping the clutches of a crime family is no easy task. Moving to Secret Seal Isle with her mom and purchasing the only Inn on the Isle was the perfect hiding place to start a new life. The sultry blue-eyed handyman Dylan Creed has no problem capturing her attention. When a dead body is found by her mom practically on the doorstep of the Inn she jumps at the chance to call her ex-FBI partner Hunter to come help her investigate the crime. Seeing Hunter has her questioning her move to Secret Seal. Hunter and Dylan clash as they battle for Cookie’s attention every time they are together. Hunter believes that Dylan is just a brainless country guy and really has no use for him until Dylan’s help becomes a necessity with solving the crime. Cookie must decide what she really wants to do with the new life she has created for herself and who is the man she is willing to give her heart to. FANTASTIC start to a new mystery series. The author automatically lures you into the story with breathtaking scene descriptions. The characters are engaging and witty dialogue, action, humor and a bit of family drama keep you intrigued till the end. I adored all the characters and Cookie definitely is full of sass as she is able to control the two alpha males interested in her. I found this to be a most entertaining read and I loved. I eagerly await the next part in this captivating series and am truly interested to see who ends up securing the heart of Cookie James. If you treasure intriguing mysteries this is a wonderful addition to your library. {I was gifted this book and this is my honest review.} In the world of mystery romance, the possibilities are endless and always fascinating. Without reservations, I recommend this book.
