  • Description

This is the diary of Burn Rivers.

Bernadette Rivers has had enough. Always the fat friend and fat twin, she's ready to be more.
This summer she's going to lose the weight that's been holding her back.
As determined as she is, Burn knows she can't do it alone.
Enter Warren Grey; ex-high school hottie and stereotypical jock. He is everything that tormented her about high school but she knows he's exactly what she needs.
With a distant mother, a sister with poor taste, a polar opposite best friend and enough insecurities to fill the Grand Canyon, can she learn to love the skin she's in?

And then, of course, there's Fred.

This book was absolutely amazing. I am currently a teenager and as far as I can see, not a lot of teenagers read anymore...but this book kept me engaged the whole time. LOVED IT!!! 😁
    • Dime Store Novel

Very simplistic story line. The plot felt more like a TV show than a book. The writing was sloppy; riddled with typos and the farther you got in to the book the less detailed the story became. I preordered the second book only to find out who her father is. If it had been a penny more than $2.99 I wouldn't have bothered. I've read better works on fan fiction websites.
    • A Great Story

It was a good book and I couldn't stop reading it but the reason I gave it 4 stars is because there was a couple of grammar mistakes.
    • Good story, where was the editor?

The grammatical, syntax and other errors were the kind missed by a computer spell and grammar check, or maybe a human who wasn't paying attention. My choices in books tend toward Literary fiction and physics. I was surprised when this story held my attention through to the end. The author did her job very well, and the story moved along without a dull pause, keeping my interest, (when I wasn't stumbling over these editing errors). I turned 70 last week, and this story took me back decades, when I was falling in love and being in love and saying goodbye. It has all the cool and hot, blush and tears, friends and jealousy of 1965 in Monterey High. It was a great expression of the roller coaster of those school years that so inform our adulthood, which informs our lives. Thanks for the romance, struggle, emotion, mystery and point of view, Ms M. Lynn, Monterey Ca.
    • Great quick read for all ages

I have no clue how this book ended up in my library but In so glad it did. What an awesome coming of age story for the fat girl in all of us. High school really is the hardest time for young adults and this novel is written in a way that is inspiration to those young adults reading this and relatable to everyone else. I would recommend this book to just about anyone as it has a little something for everyone. It is written in a clear and concise manner that is quick and engaging from start to finish. I especially love the character development of each character and especially Bern and Cassie and how they dealt with an abusive adult from their early adolescence. Everyone, fat, skinny and everyone in between should read Diary of a Fat Girl.
